Sophianne Girard, chanteuse, compositrice et arrangeuse du Grand Montréal, connecte à sa passion pour la musique à travers un jazz moderne doux, sensible et mature. Son univers influencé par le jazz anglo-saxon, le minimalisme et la musique populaire réchauffe même les cœurs les plus désolés. C’est à travers une connexion humaine honnête et bienveillante que Sophianne veut transmettre ses chansons. Ses arrangements étoffés mettent en valeur le fabuleux jeu de ses accompagnateur.trice.s dont la personnalité musicale est forte et unique. Son premier album pour octette, For Some Reason (2022), en est marqué. En 2022, elle est nommée finaliste dans la catégorie jazz du concours international de composition The John Lennon Songwriting Contest avec sa chanson For Some Reason co-écrite avec Yannick Anctil (pianiste). S’en suit son micro-album live pour trio Live at Opus Studios (2023) qui revisite des chansons de son premier album, mais dans un contexte acoustique rêveur et enchanteur. Diplômée de l’université McGill et de Sherbrooke, elle a eu la chance de performer sur les scènes du Festijazz du Mont-Tremblant, du Festijazz de Rimouski, du T.U.Jazzfest de Toronto, du Festival international de Jazz de Montréal, du festival On Jazz Sous la Lune et du Festival Québec Jazz en Juin au cours des dernières années avec son projet. Avec la sortie de deux nouveaux singles live à l’automne 2024, Sophianne annonce son prochain album, Second, qui paraîtra à l’automne 2026.

 

 

Sophianne Girard is a signer, composer, and arranger from Montreal who connects to her passion for music through the creation of a sensitive and mature modern jazz influenced by Uk jazz, minimalism and pop music. She delivers her songs with an honest and caring human touch. Her rich arrangements showcase the fabulous playing of the accompanists, whose musical personality is strong and unique. Her first album for octet, For Some Reason (September 2022), and her live EP for trio, Live at Opus Studios (January 2023), have paved her way within the Québec jazz scene. In 2022, she was a finalist in the jazz category of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest with her song For Some Reason, which she co-wrote with Yannick Anctil (pianist). In recent years, she has performed with her project at the Festijazz of Mont-Tremblant, the Festijazz of Rimouski, the T.U.Jazzfest of Toronto, the Festival Québec Jazz en Juin, the festival On Jazz Sous la Lune and the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal.She released 2 live singles in 2024 in preparation for the launch of her second album, Second, in autumn 2026.
